Loosing My Rind 

July is Watermelon Month! We are celebrating with these delicious watermelon themed wobble shots.

 
 

Ingredients

 

Herradura Silver Tequila

Herradura Silver owes its distinctly sweet taste of agave and subtle oak notes to resting for an impressive 45 days beyond the industry standard in American White Oak barrels. The prolonged aging process creates a light straw color with a unique, robust aroma of cooked agave, vanilla and wood that leaves your mouth feeling smooth and refreshed.

 
 
 

Red Food Coloring

Chocolate

Watermelon Juice

Gelatin

Green Food Coloring

 

 

How it’s made…

Here is what we did


Watermelon Center

  1. Heat 2 cups watermelon juice

  2. Add red food coloring and mix

  3.  Double batch of gelatin to bloom and mix

  4. Add 1 cup Hurradera Silver tequila and mix

  5. Spray non stick on the mold and blot off excess non stick spray

  6. Pour into sphere mold, remove any air bubbles

  7. Refrigerate for 3-4 hours

  8. Carefully remove from mold

  9. Refrigerate for 2 more hours

  10. Grate chocolate into small shards

  11. Heat a needle to use to pick small pieces of chocolate and insert them into the watermelon sphere

  12. Refrigerate


Outside Watermelon Rind

  1. Heat 1 cup heavy whipping cream, add green food coloring and mix

  2. Bloom gelatin and mix

  3. Spray non stick on the mold and blot off excess non stick spray

  4. Pour halfway into dome mold, use a slightly smaller dome mold to hold gelatin in place - disperse gelatin to edges of mold

  5. Refrigerate for 3-4 hours

  6. Carefully remove from mold.


Final steps

  1. Put watermelon sphere into rind, add another rind to top of watermelon sphere. 

  2. Cut into slices


 

There’s no sense sitting around waiting for the gelatin to get firm.
Make yourself a cocktail while you wait for the gelatin to sit.


Watermelon Margarita

  • 3 oz Watermelon Juice

  • 2 oz Herradura Silver Tequila

  • 1 oz Lime juice

  • .5 oz agave syrup

Fill shaker halfway with ice, add all ingredients. Shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds. Strain into empty glass, top with fresh ice.
