Blooming gelatin simply means adding a small amount of water to the gelatin to start the process of dissolving the gelatin. In most cases, you will dissolve 3 tablespoons of water into 1 tablespoon of gelatin, mix it very well, and allow it to sit for 10 minutes before using it.
